Days 9 to 12 - Regina to Cranbrook to Kelowna to...
After playing Moose Jaw we had a day and a half to get from Regina to Kelowna for our show at The Habitat. Day one was to take us as far as Cranbrook. After a coffee stop we left Regina and were making good time. Too good. We got a speeding ticket just outside of Lethbridge. The police officer grilled us, but let us off easy. Thankfully Matt didn’t respond to “Do you have any drugs in...
Days 7 and 8 - Saskatoon to Regina to Moose Jaw
To clarify from the last post, Benjamin Mott is alive and well. The coughing and hacking coming from the back seat has made me well aware of this fact. Ask him about his Yahk bottle. It is almost exactly what it sounds like.
As I previously said, we left Saskatoon late on Sunday night and arrived at the home of Jamison’s family in Regina as the sun came up on Monday morning. We all fell...
Days 5 and 6 - Calgary to Edmonton to Saskatoon
Set out for Edmonton from Calgary on Saturday afternoon and arrived in glorious sunshine. After a lifetime of hearing nothing but negative things about Edmonton I was surprised to discover that it is not in fact a barren hellscape, the spring thaw revealing long-buried casualties of a painfully long winter. On the contrary, it is pleasant both in appearance and atmosphere (in May, at least). Also,...
Days 3 and 4 - Banff to Calgary
Left the rockies early on Thursday and were in Calgary by the early afternoon. After unpacking at Ben’s friend Sam’s apartment we trekked down the street to Tubby Dog for some classic wiener-based Calgary fare.
Broken City reminded us of the Biltmore if the Biltmore were a little smaller and brighter. Hello Moth put on an engaging opening set, using a looper to stack his vocals on top...
Day 2 - Summerland to Banff
Denizens of everywhere:
Ben switched parts.
Laura threw darts.
Adam broke more stuff.
Jamo skipped winter.
Matt sunk the eight ball.
I walked in the snow.
What the hell am I talking about? You don’t know. Because we are hundreds of miles away.
But we still love you.

Day 1 - Western Canadian Tour - Vancouver to...
Dear friends and family,
We left Vancouver this morning in the Mercy Years tour van after a good hour of duffel bag and amplifier tetris. It was a tight squeeze, but after sacrificing an acoustic guitar we managed to make it work. After a brief stopover at Jamison’s house and a coffee grinding/brewing session at the Boundary and Grandview Chevron we were on the road for good. Sustained by...
